Changes to the optional contemporary set films

This update was first published on 24 September 2025. We'd like to remind you that we are updating four optional set films for A Level Film Studies H410/02. We can confirm that the specification and sample assessment materials are now updated to reflect this change. Please see below for details.
For A Level Film Studies (H410), we are updating four optional set films for Component 02: Critical approaches to film.
To make sure our qualification remains current and engaging for students, we are replacing the following contemporary British and US films:

These changes will apply for first teaching in September 2026 and first assessment in summer 2028.
Updated specification and sample assessment materials
To reflect these changes, we have updated the A Level Film Studies specification, which is available to download from the qualification page on our website and Teach Cambridge.
Please make sure you're using the latest specification with your students.
We've also amended the following sample assessment materials for the Component 02: Critical approaches to film:
