We announced changes to the GCSE Classical Greek Language paper (J292/01) for first assessment in June 2028 in our subject update of 3 July 2026.

We have now published a What’s changed guide that summarises the changes we’ve made for first teach 2026 and first assessment 2028. You can view and download this from the Planning and teaching > Planning section of the qualification page on our website and on Teach Cambridge.

As a reminder, if you're intending to make GCSE Classical Greek entries for assessments in June 2028 and beyond, please make sure you're using the latest versions of the following resources: 

• GCSE Classical Greek specification (version 2.0) – available from our qualification page and Teach Cambridge.
• Sample assessment material (version 2.0) – available from the Assessment > Sample Assessment Materials section of our qualification page and Teach Cambridge. 
• Defined and restricted vocabulary list (version 2.0) (PDF and spreadsheet – available from the Planning and teaching section of our qualification page and the Teaching > Teaching delivery > Teaching and delivery guides section of Teach Cambridge.

Further resources

To support you further, Bloomsbury is producing new editions of Greek to GCSE Part 1, Greek to GCSE Part 2 and Greek Beyond GCSE. These are scheduled for release in the new year. Bloomsbury is also producing a mapping resource showing how the new content relates to the current editions.
