GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Physics and GCSE Combined Science

On 5 May 2026, Ofqual confirmed that formulae and equations sheets will continue to be provided in GCSE Mathematics, Physics and Combined Science exams for the lifetime of the current specifications.

This applies to exams taken from 2028 onwards, including any resit opportunities.

Ofqual has updated its conditions to require awarding organisations to:

• publish the formulae and equations sheets by 1 September in the year before each exam series
• provide clean copies of the formulae and equations sheets with exam papers
• avoid setting questions that can be answered solely by copying information from the sheets.

Ofqual expects the formulae and equations sheets to remain consistent with those used in previous years and across specifications.
